Exporting and Importing Locations

You can export and/or import saved locations from both TPE and TPT, using the KML format. Additionally, if you have place marks created in Google Earth or similar apps, you can import those into both TPE and TPT as either KML or KMZ.

Note:

• For sharing locations between TPE for iOS on different devices and/or the TPE Web App, we recommend using Location Sync (top left on the Locations screen)
• TPE 3D shares a common locations database with TPE, so there's no need to export/import or synchronize locations between those two apps
• We plan to update TPT (Photo Transit) to use the same database as TPE also in a future release, after which you will no longer need to do the export/import routine described here to use a common locations database

Exporting Locations

To export your saved locations, tap the Share/Action button:

Scroll across to reveal more options - we're looking for "Export Locations":

Tap 'Export Locations':

This will create a KML file with your saved locations and attach it to an email ready to send. If you want to import the KML into another application, you should email the file to yourself.

Importing Locations

You can import locations from any KML or KMZ file into either TPE or TPT, as follows. Assuming you received the KML file via email, first view the email with the attached file, and tap the attachment to view it:

Next, you need to tap the Share/Action button to open the file in the desired app:

Scroll across on the top row as required until you see options to import into TPE or TPT:

Once you tap one of these options, the app will open and you'll be prompted to confirm if you want to import the locations:

Assuming you choose Import, you'll see the locations in your locations list:
