The release of Photo Ephemeris Web 2.0 included the launch of an optional PRO subscription to access premium features. This article explains how the Photo Ephemeris Web PRO subscription relates to the The Photographer's Ephemeris (TPE) mobile apps.
Does this launch affect the mobile apps?
No. There are no changes to the mobile apps at this time.
Can I use the web app on my phone or tablet?
Photo Ephemeris Web cannot be used on smartphones, but can be accessed on tablets.
However, we recommend using the native mobile app versions of TPE on your phone or tablet for the best user experience. Some aspects of the user interface are optimized for desktop or laptop computers and will not work as well on touch devices.
Do I now need a subscription to use the mobile app?
No. A subscription is not required to use the existing native TPE app on your smartphone - it remains a one-time purchase.
If I subscribe to Photo Ephemeris Web PRO, will I get your mobile app for free?
No. A Photo Ephemeris Web PRO subscription covers only the TPE web app for desktops and laptops.
If I own your mobile apps, do I get Photo Ephemeris Web PRO free of charge?
No. The TPE mobile apps and Photo Ephemeris Web PRO are purchased separately.
If I subscribe to Skyfire, can I get Photo Ephemeris Web PRO free of charge?
No. Skyfire is a separate offering from Skyfire Services LLC sold under license by Crookneck Consulting LLC.
Will this change in the future?
Yes, probably. We're evaluating future changes to our pricing models. It's not economically viable to offer access to Photo Ephemeris Web PRO without a subscription, due to recurring operating costs. That is why we cannot provide it free of charge to existing users of the paid mobile apps who purchased those apps for a one-off non-recurring price.
